Montreal International Steelpan Festival

Montreal Internation Steelpan Festival
The Montreal International Steelpan Festival brings you the flavour and excitement of the Caribbean blended with the multiculturalism and diversity of Montreal, a city internationally known for its numerous festivals.

We are proud to be a part of the promotions of the Steelpan’s art-form to the level of the international acceptance that it currently enjoys today. We believe that our International Steelpan Festival will grow to the level of the International Jazz Festivals, as other big cities of the world continue producing major international Steelpan Festivals similar to that of Montreal. Artistes and steelbands from around the world continue to participate at the Festival which is no longer a one day event as it stretches into a full week end with added events. We have the adult Panorama and Tune of Choice Competitions and now we also have a junior Panorama Competition. We intend introducing an all Steelpan parade where Floats will be decorated in designed themes with the only music being that of Steelpans. There will be competition events on the parade route. Performers will present music with styles of Calypso-Soca Reggae, Jazz, Pop etc.. Beautiful melodies will fill the air throughout the weekend.

Whether you are familiar with the dynamic percussive musical expression of the Steelpan or just curious about the art form, you are certain to enjoy the weekend! You are welcome to join “Friends of the Pan,” people who have contributed to the growth and development of the Montreal International Steelpan Festival through donations. The festival is supported by the City of Montreal. This year, the festival will be held the week end of June 28th, June 29th, 2008 at Place Emilie Gamelin, Montreal.
