Booking

In order to promote new artistes and new groups and to provide adequate jobs and employment for these groups and artistes, it was necessary to establish a booking agency to specifically address this issue. Salahpan Booking Agency was designed to concentrate on all Caribbean entertainment, including, Calypso, Reggae, Latin, and Steelpan music, Caribbean decor, and Caribbean catering.

Steelpan Soloists

Salah Wilson
Available for all occasions with back up system or with other individuals or combinations of groups. See Salah Wilson for more information.
Rashiyd Wilson
Eight year old Rashiyd started playing Steelpans at age four. At age six he travelled to Toronto to participate in his first Panorama competition with his grandfather and family of Salah's Steelpan Academy. He has performed in many events from kindergarten parties to performances for politicians.
Walid Wilson
A young Steelpan soloist, with lots of musical experience, available for individual playing, private and public functions.
Aldwin Albino
Virtuoso soloist, recording artist, musician and teacher. Aldwin easily fits into any of these cateogories. A veteran musician on the Montreal scene for more than three decades. He has performed with many top international renowned artists at home in Montreal or abroad, wherever the music takes him. Aldwin is always available as a soloist or with groups.

Hameed Shaaq
Hameed Shaaq (aka The Pan Piper of Toronto), is a native of Trinidad and Tobago, the birthplace of steelpan music. He came to Canada as a Steelpan musician in 1975. He has been associated with steelband movement for over 35 years. Through his innovative abilities, he continues to impart his extensive knowledge of Steelpan to a new generation.
Roderick Smith
An accomplished musician, Steelpan soloist, with complete backup system. Roderick has a variety of songs, available for all private functions requiring a single steelpan player.

Steelbands

Salah & Family - Good Feelings

Salah & Family Steelpan Workshop started with three of Salah's children (Rachel, Walid, and Ishmawiyl) his nephew (Clifton) and himself. Newer members joined later, including his daughters (Miriyam, Fatima, and Zaynab) and vocalist Adiyla, wife and mother. This family ensemble uses all steeldrum instruments, from Bass to Soprano. A unique group with a unique sound playing a variety of musical styles including Classical, Jazz, Reggae, Pop, Latin, Gospel, Soca, and Calypso. Soloists to any other combination available.

Since 1988, Salah & Family Steelpan Workshop has been busy making television appearances, radio shows, performing at school functions, private functions, shopping malls, campuses, cultural activities and concerts. Concert venues and appearances have included the Spectrum, Pollack Hall, Loyola Concert Hall, in accompaniment to the Jubilation choir; a presentation of both American and Canadian Anthems at the Olympic Stadium prior to an Expo’s Baseball game; the Molson Centre during a Hockey game; and several days at the Montreal International Jazz Festival.

In 1995, The Salah & Family Steelpan Workshop released its debut compact disk and cassette entitled "Good Feelings"; a mixture of Classical, Jazz, Reggae, Pop, Latin, and Soca-Calypso. The material includes some items enhanced with a blend of vocals and with some original compositions and arrangements by Salah.

Salah's Steelpan Academy
Salah's Steelpan Academy is available for all types of parades and festivals, up to 40+ musicians. See the academy for more information.
Martin Albino's Savoys
A unique traditional style Steelpan group. (Single Pan band also known as "Pan round the neck"). Ideal for parades and festivals, easy mobility as strolling musicians. Available for all occasions indoors and outdoors. The make-up of the group can be from 3 players to 25 players.
Sistars
Everything in Steelpan music from Salah's daughters, all types of music for all types of occasions. Full Steelpan music, the smallest concept of a complete Steelpan band.
Trinidad Playboys
Trinidad Playboys Steelband is the veteran group, having been around since Montreal's Expo'67. They have been entertaining and providing consistent good steelband music to Montrealers and other Quebecers all over the province for the last 35 years. Led by Winston "Skippy" Maingot, they have always maintained their status as a crowd pleaser. The band is available for all occasions.

Calypso Soloists

Cultural Farmer
Cultural Farmer made his debut as a calypsonian in the local community. His youthful energy had a refreshing impact on his audiences. After releasing his debut Cd "Soca On the Move", the Farmer has been diligently working on his second CD.

Cultural Farmer is available for all occasions as a soloist (with back-up music) or with an available group; an entertaining character.
Love Man Kent
Love Man Kent, a veteran calypsonian in the local community has been around as one of the calypso pioneers in Montreal for a long time. He has performed in Ottawa, Toronto and Trinidad. Always entertaining, a team player and very supportive to other artists. Love Man Kent has two CDs accredited to his work including the very interesting "Moments of Love".

Love Man Kent is available for all occasions as a soloist (with back-up music) or with an available band.
Saga Boy
Always entertaining, a true crowd pleaser.  Saga Boy is available for all occasions as a soloist (with back-up music) or with an available band. CDs are available including "Tears Of A Nation".

Calypso Bands

Professional musicians exploding on the Montreal scene, with a brand of calypso style music that covers the different islands of the Caribbean. The group is always available for all types of engagements. The band is made up of bass, guitar, keyboards, drums and vocals.
The Exotics
Glen Clarke, a veteran percussionist with a lifetime of international musical experiences. Having traveled to all parts of the world, Glen settled into the Montreal scene delighting audiences with his skilled experienced playing. Also teaches his art form of percussion. Glen is available as a single artist or as part of any type musical ensemble. His group "The Exotics" is available for all type of functions.
Jab Jab, has been the most prolific calypso band in the city for the last decade. They have always provided back-up music for all professional artists that pass through Montreal. They have established themselves as the premier calypso band in the city. A couple of CDs are accredited to them as well as a televised video. The group is led by Ross Whiteman, Andre Whiteman and Wayne Stoute. The trio is the tightest calypso group, but adds other players to the group accordingly. Always available for any type of occasion.
Raymond Harewood, accomplished musician and founder of the group, has been entertaining Montrealers for much more than a decade. After having performed with many other groups in the city. Raymond has made a lot of inroads in establishing his group Xzotyka, a  rich blend of Caribbean style music. The band is available for private and public functions.

Music for the soul. Jazz with a refreshing taste of steelpan ambiance for all occasions. A new approach and feel. Available for all types of shows including festivals.
Kali & Dub
Hayes 'Kali' Thurton, has been on the forefront of the Montreal Reggae scene for the last two decades. Kali is a Juno Nominee with four CDs credited to an illustrious career.  Kali & Dub is available for all occasions, private functions, clubs, concerts and major festivals.
